ANTI HBs Ag
Why Is This Test Done?
Interpretation
"1.Hepatitis B surface antibody testing is used to determine hepatitis B immune status.
2.As per current CDC guidlines individuals with anti-HBs levels of 10 mIU/mL or greater after completing an HBV vaccination series are considered protected from hepatitis B.
3.A non immunized person is deemed to be immune to HBV infection if anti-HBs values are greater than or equal to 10.0 mIU/ml which could be due to past HBV infection.
4.Persons with passively acquired antibody (e.g. through recent tranfusion etc) may demonstrate positive anti HB s antibodies which may clear later, in such persons test should be repeated after an appropriate interval for determining correct status of patient.
5.Immunity to HBV is implied by anti-HBs values greater than or equal to 10.0 mIU/ml.
6.This result may represent the antibody response to successful HBV immunization, to past HBV infection or passively acquired antibody (e.g.tranfusion)."
