Glucose 6 Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD Quantitative)

  1. Glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase deficiency is one of the most common enzyme deficiency worldwide causing a spectrum of diseases including neonatal        hyperbilirubinemia, acute hemolysis, and chronic hemolysis. This is X-linked inherited disorder hemolysis.

2. Persons with this condition also may be asymptomatic.

3. Acute hemolysis can be caused by exposure to anoxidative stress in the form of an infection, oxidative drug or fava beans.
