The HBsAg (Hepatitis B Surface Antigen), also known as the Australia Antigen, is a blood test used to detect the presence of the surface antigen of the Hepatitis B virus (HBV). It is the primary marker used to screen for and diagnose an active Hepatitis B infection, indicating that the person is currently infected and can transmit the virus to others.Preparation: No special preparation or fasting is required for this test.Procedure: A blood sample is drawn from a vein, usually in the arm.
