Patient Preparation:  No special preparation is requiredDescription:  The TPHA (Treponema pallidum hemagglutination) test is a blood test that detects syphilis, a sexually transmitted disease: How it works ?The test uses chicken erythrocytes that are coated with antigens from the syphilis bacteria, which bind to antibodies in the patient's blood. Results: A positive result indicates the presence of antibodies that are specific to syphilis. Significance:  A positive result usually remains detectable for life, even after treatment.
