Procedure: A blood sample is drawn from a vein, usually in the arm.

Description:

The Alpha-Fetoprotein (AFP) test measures the level of AFP, a protein normally produced by the liver and yolk sac of a developing fetus. In adults, abnormal AFP levels can indicate liver disease, certain cancers, or fetal abnormalities during pregnancy.
