
The Anti-Streptolysin O (ASO) test measures the level of antibodies against streptolysin O, a toxin produced by Group A Streptococcus bacteria. It is used to help diagnose a recent streptococcal infection and conditions caused by this infection, such as rheumatic fever or glomerulonephritis.
Preparation: No special preparation or fasting is required.
Procedure: A blood sample is drawn from a vein, usually in the arm.
