Preparation: No fasting required, but avoid ejaculation, heavy exercise, or prostate manipulation (e.g., digital rectal exam) for 24-48 hours before the test, as these activities can temporarily increase PSA levels.

Procedure: A blood sample is taken from a vein in the arm.

The Free PSA/PSA Ratio test compares the levels of free (unbound) PSA to total PSA in the blood. This ratio helps distinguish between prostate cancer and non-cancerous prostate conditions, such as benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
