Description:
The HIV I & II test detects the presence of antibodies to Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV) types 1 and 2 in the blood. This test is used to diagnose HIV infection, which can lead to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS). It identifies whether a person is infected with HIV-1, the most common type, or HIV-2, which is less common but still pathogenic. A positive result indicates HIV infection, and follow-up testing may be required to confirm the diagnosis and determine the appropriate treatment.
