Description:
The HLA-B27 PCR Qualitative test detects the presence of the HLA-B27 gene using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) technology. This gene is associated with autoimmune disorders, particularly ankylosing spondylitis and other spondyloarthropathies. A positive result indicates a genetic predisposition to these conditions but does not confirm a diagnosis, as HLA-B27 can also be found in healthy individuals. This test is mainly used to support the diagnosis in patients with symptoms like chronic back pain or joint inflammation.
