PROLACTIN ( PRL )

Patient Preparation:  Collect specimen 4 hours after the patient has awakened. Overnight fasting is preferred.

Procedure

  • A blood sample is drawn from a vein, usually in the arm.

Description:

The Prolactin (PRL) test measures the level of prolactin, a hormone produced by the pituitary gland that plays a key role in milk production and breast development. It can also influence reproductive health and sexual function.
